Refining the Handwriting of Continuous Cursive Letters
At this stage, if continuous cursive was taught at the beginners’ level, the children are purely refining their handwriting as continuous cursive letters have the entry and exit strokes needed for joining letters.
Children refine their handwriting by:
Producing a more consistently proportioned letter form and size, and
Correctly placing letters on the writing lines and spacing them appropriately.
As the children are older, we have removed the picture clues provided at the beginners stage and have started to reduce the line heights and colour clues on the worksheets. The smallest line height is considered the smallest handwriting size.
