Spatial Awareness Check
Spatial awareness is the ability to be aware of:
- The space around you and your position in that space.
- The position and relationship of other objects in relation to one another and yourself.
A simple check list to see whether your child may have difficulties with spatial awareness
Possible Difficulties:
- Have problems with positional language and unable to tell left from right
- Find it difficult to reproduce patterns, shapes and letters
- Struggle to keep work on lines or colour within the lines
- Seem to be clumsy and bumping into things or knocking them over
- Poor drawing/writing presentation skills
- Find it difficult to play games or sport
Possible Strengths:
- Good auditory memory
- Strong verbal comprehension skills
- Confident speakers
- Good listeners
- Prefer multi-sensory strategies for learning
